Rio de Janeiro - Bike Riding at Lagoa das Frittas

One of our first adventures in Rio was a bike ride around Lagoa das Frittas.  It is a big lake in the middle of Impanema.  There are people who rent bikes that you can ride around the lake.  It is a 7.5km ride all the way around, and Little Beaner (Ethan) was a trooper riding the whole way around.

Scott and Owen got to ride together.  Owen was hesitant at first, and did not like riding on the bike (he is used to our bike trailer), but it was not long and he was giggling and wanting Scott to go faster.

They had bikes for all sizes.  Isaac and Ethan had so much fun.  We rented the bikes for 1 hour.  We ended up turning in our bikes 15 minutes late because 1)Isaac wiped out close to the end and 2)Ethan needed a little extra time to make it all the way around.  He did not complain, but I could tell he was really tired.  The bike lady was super nice.  She not only didn't charge us for the extra 15 minutes, she did not charge us for Ethan's bike!

Here is one of the amazing views from around the lake.  From one side of the lake you could see Christ the Redeemer statue, too.

After our bike ride we had dinner at an Arabian restaurant.  One of the things that Scott and I miss here in Brazil is different kinds of cuisine (Southern Brazilian cuisine lost its novelty after about 5 days), so we were excited to get to try something new.  The boys tried everything and even liked most of it.  I love it when they are adventurous.  The restaurant was really cool.  It was called a kiosk, which they have a ton of in Rio.  They are outdoor restaurants located around the lake or by the beaches.  I love eating outside!
