Rio de Janeiro - Christo Redentor

The most memorable site for the boys in Rio de Janeiro was Christ the Redeemer.  We came home with three Christ statues and Isaac has drawn about a hundred pictures of the statue since.  It was inspiring, majestic and beautiful.  You can see the statue from most places in the city, and it is especially cool at sunset.

Here is the statue up close.  There is a little chapel in the base that we visited and said a little prayer in.

Christ the Redeemer is located on top of a mountain called Corcovado.  To get to the top of the mountain and the base of the statue, you can walk or take a cog train.  We, of course, chose the cog train.  The boys are crazy about trains, so they thought it was awesome.

Family shot in front of the statue.  There were a ton of people there, so it was hard to get a good shot.

View of Lagoas das Fritas from the top of Corcovado.  Wow!  Ethan rode all the way around that lake!

View of Pao de Acucar from the top of Corcovado.  There are beautiful views everywhere.
