Isaac's Brazillian Birthday Party

Isaac's birthday party last night was a huge success!  I could not be happier with how much fun it was.  Almost his entire class came (27 classmates) and his teacher came along with all of the Americans in town.  It was a wild, fun party!
Here is all the kids singing "Parabens pra voce" to Isaac.  They are such a good, sweet group of kids.  I am so happy that he has such a nice class.  They play so nice with each other and they are very thoughtful.  It was LOUD when they were singing.  So cool!
Here is Isaac blowing out his candles.
This is the cake that I made for Isaac.  When he saw it he said, "Ohhhhhhh.  Cool!"  I took that as a compliment and counted my creation a success.

This is Isaac's friend Lucas Delecasia.  He is hilarious, and he could ride the bull like no other.
Here is Isaac on the bull.  The mechanical bull was a great addition to our party.  The boys loved it!
Here is Ethan at the top of the slide, which was also a big hit.
Here are a few of the American girls, Josie, Helen, Marcella and Ella.  So cute!
Here I am serving the cachorro quentes (hot dogs).  Hotdogs are served many different ways here in Horizontina (sometimes with peas and corn), and at birthday parties they are served cut up with a tomato sauce on them.  The kids love them, but I am not a fan of the sauce.  I tried to keep the party as traditional as possible including my clothes.  I like to try to dress to fit in here, and this is totally something a mom would wear to a birthday party.  However, I received this shirt from Karen and she bought it in Dysert, IA.  Thanks, Karen!!!
More action on the torro mechanico.  The kids are Bernardo, Delecasia, Luana, Fernanda, Augusto e Matheus on the bull.  I am friends with Matheus' mom and we play volleyball on Wednesdays, so Isaac plays with him a lot.  He is a very talkative, cute kid.

One other birthday tradition here is the balão surpresa.  Basically it is like a pinata, but it is a balloon.  We stuffed three huge balloons with little toys and candy and all three broke.  This was our third attempt and it had just a small hole, so Scott just blew it up while holding the hole shut and then I popped it while he held it.  Not totally right, but the kids did not care.  The adults all had a good laugh while Scott was mobbed by the kids trying to get at the balloon.

The party lasted from 6 until 9, and the time went very fast.  I am so glad we had this party.  It was very special for Isaac, and so cool to experience some of the really fun traditions of living in Brazil.
